Grey paving slabs account for over 60% of UK patio sales. Kandla Grey sandstone and Kandla Grey porcelain are our two bestselling products — the warm silver-grey tone works with virtually every house style, planting scheme and outdoor furniture choice. Beyond grey, we stock greens (Raj Green), warm buffs and creams (Rippon Buff, Fossil Mint, Camel Dust), rich browns (Autumn Brown), deep blacks (Anthracite porcelain, Blue-Black slate) and whites (Everest Pearl, Quartz White porcelain). | Size | Best for | Slabs per m² |
|---|---|---|
| 600×600mm | Small patios, paths, traditional layouts, budget projects | 2.78 |
| 900×600mm | Most popular — contemporary patios, extensions, medium-large gardens | 1.85 |
| 1200×600mm | Large format, premium contemporary, minimal joints | 1.39 |
| Patio Pack (mixed) | Traditional random-pattern layouts, cottage gardens | Varies by pack |
900×600mm has overtaken 600×600mm as the UK's most popular paving slab size. The larger format creates fewer joints and makes spaces feel bigger — particularly effective on modern patios and alongside rear extensions. For smaller gardens or tighter budgets, 600×600mm paving slabs remain the best value per square metre. Mixed patio packs are ideal for traditional sandstone patios where the random-pattern layout adds character. Read our full guide to choosing paving slab sizes.

Nothing — they're the same product. "Paving slabs", "patio slabs", "garden slabs" and "outdoor paving" all refer to stone or porcelain slabs designed for external use. Landscapers tend to say "paving slabs", homeowners often say "patio slabs" or "garden slabs", and architects sometimes say "paving flags" or "pavers". What matters is the material (sandstone, porcelain, limestone, granite or slate), the thickness (20-22mm for residential patios) and the finish (riven, sawn or textured). Everything in this collection meets those standards — genuine outdoor-rated paving slabs, not thin indoor tiles or concrete imitations.
Our paving slab prices start from £20.32/m² for porcelain and £19.48/m² for Indian sandstone — delivered free to any UK mainland address, VAT included. A typical 20m² garden patio costs £400–600 in paving slabs depending on the material and size you choose. That's the complete delivered cost — no delivery charges, no split pallet fees, no postcode surcharges added at checkout.
Our prices are lower than most UK paving suppliers because we import directly from source. No importer margin, no wholesaler markup, no reseller cut. Both include VAT and free UK delivery — no extras to add. We keep prices low by importing direct from source, not by cutting quality. See 3 real patios built for under £500 using our products.
What size paving slabs should I choose?
900×600mm is the most popular UK paving slab size — it creates a modern, spacious feel with fewer joints. 600×600mm suits smaller gardens and tighter budgets. 1200×600mm is the premium large-format option for contemporary patios. Patio packs (mixed sizes) are best for traditional random-pattern sandstone layouts. Read our full size guide.
What is the best paving slab for a garden?
Indian sandstone is the best all-round choice for most UK gardens — widest colour range, best value and natural character that suits both modern and traditional settings. For zero maintenance, porcelain is the best option. For maximum durability, granite. For elegant refinement, limestone. We wrote a detailed comparison of all five materials.
How much do paving slabs cost per m²?
Our paving slabs range from £19.48/m² (Indian sandstone) to £35/m² (premium limestone and large-format porcelain). Most popular sandstone colours sit between £19–23/m². All prices include VAT and free UK mainland delivery — the price on the product page is the complete delivered cost. See our full patio cost breakdown including sub-base, mortar and labour.
Do paving slabs need a sub-base?
Yes — always. Paving slabs must be laid on a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base (minimum 150mm deep) with a full mortar bed. Laying on soil, sand or grass will result in sinking and movement within months. Read our complete sub-base guide or our step-by-step laying guide.
Do you deliver paving slabs free?
Yes — free delivery to all UK mainland addresses from our Nottingham warehouse. No minimum order, no split pallet charges, no postcode surcharges. Orders are dispatched within 24 hours and typically arrive in 2–5 working days via tail-lift lorry.
Can I lay paving slabs myself?
Yes — a competent DIYer can lay a standard rectangular patio. Indian sandstone in riven finish is the most forgiving material for first-time installers. Read our step-by-step laying guide for the full process, including mortar mix ratios, pointing, and the 7 mistakes that ruin most patios.
Is sandstone or porcelain better for a patio?
Neither is objectively better — they suit different priorities. Sandstone offers natural character, wider colour variation and lower upfront cost. Porcelain is maintenance-free, stain resistant and colourfast. We sell both and wrote an honest comparison to help you decide.
How many paving slabs do I need?
Measure your patio area in square metres (length × width) and add 10% for cuts and waste. Each product page shows the coverage per pack and per pallet. For a quick estimate, use our patio cost calculator — enter your dimensions, choose your material, and get an instant quote with exact quantities.
